I just found out from this insightful Ezra Klein column in yesterday's NY Times! https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/16/opinion/ezra-klein-biden-audio-essay.html Why isn't anyone talking about Biden being old? How has this been kept a secret for so long?? /s I am so gd tired of hearing about Biden's age. He is doing a great job as president - and, perhaps most importantly, he is NOT Trump. The Times also thinks the resistance is burned out. I really resist the idea that the Times is actively trying to usher in another Trump presidency, gd forbid, but sometimes it feels that way. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/19/us/politics/trump-resistance-democrats-voters.html We're all burned out. We're all exhausted. But I think you will find us crawling over glass to make sure Trump does not get into the WH again. And yeah yeah yeah, I know you're about to come back with "genocide!" and "the border" and "aliens" or whatever - and I do not care.
^ me again I liked this column [twitter]https://twitter.com/JohnJHarwood/status/1759575118722846828[/twitter]
The slate article is stupid. Gaslighting Americans into voting for an incapacitated man because his unelected aides can run the day to day is not convincing.
Biden's sure passed a lot of HUGE BIPARTISAN legislation to be incapacitated. Sorry for you that he just keeps winning. But let's play that it's his unelected aides, wont they still be there in 2024?
If the fate of democracy is at stake, you need a President people have confidence in. Not just their aides running the show.
Exactly. Which is why I fear a Trump presidency so much--I have zero confidence in his intellectual or governing abilities or his willingness to do the right thing AND absolutely no confidence in the sort of people that he will hire as aides. Given that a lot of the day-to-day work is done by aides, who does anyone imagine would agree to work for the WH or Trump administration given what happened the first time around? There won't be any more "adults in the room"--it'll just be a bunch of cray crays whose main qualification will be 100 percent loyalty to Trump. What normal person would want to work for him?
