I have a question. Someone told me that these public universities like OOS students because they will pay full tuition. Is that true? For a VA resident who pays taxes, that seems unfair
I’m confused why you think it’s unfair. If your in-state kid doesn’t get in? But the seats are carefully restricted at 30 to 32 percent OOS for UVA (much fewer for UCLA, Berkeley, Texas schools and UNC). So when you apply you know how many slots are available for in-state. But, yes, a lot of Virginians would like to see more in-state seats at both W&M and UVA. You’re aware that OOS pay a LOT more? Like double or triple in-state tuition? But no, all OOS do not pay the full rate because UVA is need blind making decisions. I imagine most do but not all.
