No, he was Prince of Wales and became Duke of Cambridge upon his wedding. Same with Harry, first Prince of Wales and then Duke of Sussex.[/quote]

No, Charles was Prince of Wales and his kids used Wales as their last names, but it wasn’t their title.  Then William and Harry got Cambridge and Sussex as their own Titles and their kids used them as last names.

But when Charles became King, he passed the Prince of Wales title to William and since it’s a better title than Duke of Cambridge, his kids now use that at school.[/quote]
