No one is volunteering to coach your 7 year old and spend all that time practicing and running games and dealing with the league and parents in order to sneak their kid onto a completely meaningless all star team. If someone volunteers to also coach all stars, of course their kid is on the team automatically. Leagues are begging and begging for coaches. [/quote]

Wait until your kid gets to U11 and above. There are insane coaches whose lives revolve around CYA rec soccer. Go to Sully field on any given Saturday for a rec game and you can see how nuts these guys get and yell at children and other teams. No one is talking about 7 year olds bub.[/quote]

The 10 and 11 year olds don't play at Sully. At that age, they are part of the Suburban Friendship League and their games are all over the place.[/quote]
