It is impossible for an 18-year old that is supported by a parent to simply become a CA resident and get in-state tuition (you have to become emancipated and jump through all kinds of hoops), but it is a different matter if the parent who is paying the bills and the student move to CA and become CA residents. I am also not aware of any states that require the kid graduate from a high school in that state. Does anyone know which states have that requirement?[/quote] DP. I'm pretty sure it is not that easy. It is quite another thing if the entire family moves to CA, which is what OP is proposing (though not necessarily CA). [/quote]
