Why hasn’t SEC’s union negotiated raises back to Jan, not PP9?
no insight, but what are you willing to to give up for that? another day in office per week?
Why would there need to be a trade off? Every other agency sees their raises start Jan 1, and SEC sees their raises start PP9 (albeit a percentage above All federal but that’s also because SEC doesn’t offer any steps or merit bonuses). Most SEC employees could be making at least 2x what they make if they switched to private. And people are leaving left and right. This should be revisited.
my previous FIRREA agency also gave raises in April/May. So no, not every other non-GS scale agency gives raises on Jan 1. And I don't know of any other agency that gives the raise % above the pay band cap as a cash payment. As a maxed-out sk-14 I can't think of any other agency I could go to that would give me commensurate pay. (the bands at the FRB in theory could match it but there is no geo-pay and the recruiters insist that they will only give offers in the bottom third to half of the pay band. and you can be easily fired from the FRB.) Given all of the layoffs in private in my area, at least, my bargaining unit position and work-life balance even if 1/2 my industry salary potential seems pretty ok, actually. Sorry your team is losing folks. Would be nice if we could get a budget and start hiring again, but I'm not holding my breath.
