How do you explain the WSJ ranking of 252?
The WSJ rankings are an absolute joke. I guess we're all sending our kids to BYU since they are a T20 now? I mean, why aren't we all talking about ED'ing to BYU since it's a 60% acceptance rate and a T20 school? But Brown, UCLA, Colby, Johns Hopkins are all outside of the T50 so not to be considered.
Again, looking at a sampling of Tulane peer schools, WSJ has following rankings: Vanderbilt: 13 Duke: 16 Emory: 42 UNC: 83 UVA: 84 Tulane: 354 (I was wrong at 252) Again, why is Tulane so much worse than the peer schools? It's not even about being outside the Top 50.
None of the other schools are located in a city hit by the worst hurricane in the past 25 years. The "party school" thing is also overblown. It's New Orleans, obviously college students there are going to party. Tulane can still have great academics while also being located in the Mardi Gras capital of the country.
