Sounds like if Loudoun had kept him behind bars for his priors, he wouldn't be out killing dogs.
Be real. He broke the drive thru menu screen at a McDonald's and some glass entrance doors. Those aren't really "lock 'em up" crimes.
It's a good argument for broken windows policing. He's mentally ill, and clearly needs more care. It's not to punish him but to enable him to function.
Why are you people so afraid to say that he needs punishment for these actions?
What's the point of punishment? To teach someone a lesson? If they are mentally ill, they may never be able to grasp that lesson. So caring for them is more appropriate. Either way, people like this need to be removed from society until they are stable, because other people have a right to be safe.
Have we tried giving him free housing so that he has time to work on understanding how society is plotting against him?
I know you’re being sarcastic, but this is a good time to remind everyone that the severely mentally ill homeless (which, this guy wasn’t homeless as far as I know) can’t and/or don’t want to keep a home. You give them an apartment, they trash it and end up back on the streets because their addictions and problems are too severe.
