I am not in favor of legalizing pot.  I think too many social problems come with that and there is a reason why the Netherlands is moving away from its openness.  I think its perfectly fine to make the decision as a community that we don't want to take on the effects of legal pot.  But I also know that my teen has tried it.  I have not told him it is OK and if I thought he was doing it at all regularly I would step in.  But I'm not going to come down hard on some experimentation.  That would only close the door between us.

The Mike Bradley post is just too hysterical.  We all know that most people who try pot do not lose their brains or become addicts.  So why should we tell our children this?  How much credibility will we have?  I also think there is a huge difference between a 14 year-old trying pot and a 16 year-old.  But don;t we all know that most people try pot at some point in their lives, generally in their late teens?  telling teens that their brains will be damaged forever is like chowing them Reefer Madness and expecting them to take it seriously.
