I love everything about Knoxville but the prices have gone insane since COVID. You used to be able to get a house in the Fort (walking distance to UT) for under $300k. Now those same houses, if you can find one, run about $700k+. Due to the nature of the college town the more students they accept the tighter close in housing gets. But it is an amazing city.
Can you elaborate about what you like about Knoxville?
It’s a small walkable city. There are hubs of activity depending on what you’re interested in doing. College football is an incredibly fun experience, even if you don’t like football. The school brings activities that the entire community can enjoy. Check out the concert list at Thompson Bowling arena. Downtown is adorable and has bars and restaurants and a weekly farmers market. Restaurant prices tend to be cheaper than they are here. Old city has become really trendy with lots of bars and restaurants. And there’s an up and coming section of town where a few breweries have opened up.including a great German beer hall. They do have a homeless problem but they generally stay in a few areas of town where you wouldn’t really be anyways. Add in the proximity to the Smokies and the river that runs through the town and there is just a lot to do. My son goes to school there so I’m there pretty often.
