We did it during the pandemic for about a year. I have done it when we are sick a few times, or during a particularly hectic week when DH is out of town. I did it over break at my parents' house because I was cooking and had a slight cold and just didn't want to deal with the back and forth of where to go and how to pick this or that tomato. So I ordered and it was delivered super early and DH unpacked it and by the time my mom got up everything was already in the house. Agree it's not ideal with produce and substitutions, but in post-pandemic ordering I have found there are fewer subs, more available time slots, and people and maybe instructions are just getting better at picking good items. It would be more of a problem if you needed a ripe avocado or something. The one thing that I think is probably true is that it keeps you to your list. I am super bad at going off-list. When I visited my parents I got a whole meal's worth of food plus some fruit and the total was far less than I expected even with the $10 fee and $10 tip. And it was Whole Foods, where I never shop!
