I grew up in Florida and loved it. But we have since moved away. My Florida friends who are teaching are all retiring early because of the crazy new book rules. Orlando schools have censored over 700 titles! Do you feel Florida schools are teaching your children appropriately? Are you in favor of these draconian rules? We want to move back to Florida retirement but not if it is now Mississippi.
Don't believe the partisan propaganda. FL schools are doing better than ever, it's one of the reasons for the continued migration there.
I am not listening to "propaganda" -- I am listening to teacher friends in Florida who have had to empty their classrooms of books. And a friend whose first grader is in a school where the storybook about two male penguins caring for an egg was taken out of the school.
Oh come on, that's propaganda 101. There are books everywhere in FL schools and libraries. If your "friends" want porn and anti-science distributed as educational materials....that says everything about you. Do look into those books and see what you think. No single European school system carries them because they are just porn and anti-science stuff.
None of what you wrote is true. Orlando schools district pulled almost 700 titles from its shelves.
Fake news. There are books being reviewed.
Stop with the fake news BS. That Schlick is old. The Miami Herald reported that over 1400 books banned in Florida. https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/local/education/article279568719.html
Can’t you read your own links? They define as ban as “any action taken against a book” which is pure nonsense. Teachers and librarians review and update materials all the time. “Most book bans recorded this past year are currently classified as “banned pending investigation,” meaning the book has been removed during review.“ All books are accessible for purchase by parents who want their kids to access the material during the review process.
Several PPs can't even read yet they are deeeeeeply concerned about "banned" books. It's frankly comical yet sad what a poot education they got and yet they are concerned about another state.
