Cream cheese is always in hot demand around the holidays because people use it a lot for baking. I haven’t noticed it being out of stock at other times of year though.
Surely the cream cheese makers know this based on past years, and could have ramped up production?
I don’t think it’s 100% on the manufacturers. I know the grocery stores like to blame the manufacturers and they put up their little “due to shortages ….” Signs where the cream cheese should be. But I don’t think they order enough to keep up with demand. I complained so much about almond milk being out of stock at Giant - the regular, non-flavored almond milk - on every store survey that they started putting up signs about “shortages” in the almond milk section. But I truly believe it was on Giant for not ordering correctly. Because the flavored almond milk was always in stock, and Wegmans would have regular almond milk in stock too, but Giant was always out of it.
I have NOT noticed the unflavored almond milk being out of stock, but I shop at Harris teeter and Wegman’s.
