I’m voting for Amy Jackson because I think she’d do a good job, and that she cares about this city. Gaskins is an excellent communicator and public speaker, but it’s very clear this is a stepping stone position for her. Everything she’s done and advocated for is in support of building her resume for future higher office. Which is technically fine, but I live in Alexandria and want a mayor that empathizes with residents needs, versus implementing priorities that harm the actual experience of living here. Jackson doesn’t seem to have a plan beyond serving the city she lives in. Frankly I just want to vote for any candidate that will just stop riling everyone up all the time, and Gaskins just isn’t that.[/quote]

So what if it’s a stepping stone? She would need to do a decent job for it to be a stepping stone and do we really need anymore overly entrenched citizens in office? People like you get worried that someone new will come in and then it won’t be same ole as always [/quote]
