I finally realized that even if I had every member of my family do 30 minutes a day and an hour each weekend day that we'd never keep up. And that doesn't take into account the time and energy required to manage all of it - teach the kids to do it right, ask everyone if they've done their chores (including husband), check the kids work, deal with the unexpected mess, etc. We hired cleaners a few weeks ago and are cutting back in other areas.
