He is a boy the family took in several years ago. Said to often be a + influence on AI's behavior/choices.

Why the backpack? Was he dealing or buying that night?

several years

ashton was the shooter, not the other kid. ashton had an intact family with involved parents and extended family. military dad, le grandfather, loving mom.

other kid was said to be a moderating influence on ashton. obviously not enough of one on the night in question but he seems to have been more along for the ride, not the initiator/shooter. [/quote]
