Parents need to remind their kids that they should not wear headphones while walking. It's a huge safety hazard. They also shouldn't walk while looking down at their phones.
This was a kid walking in a crosswalk. The car closest to the curb stopped to let her pass, and the car in the left lane did not slow down to see if anyone was coming and hit a kid. It's not the kid's fault for jumping into traffic. It's not the kid's fault for wearing headphones. It's not parents' faults for not training their kids. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE DRIVER DRIVING TERRIBLY AND HITTING A CHILD WHO HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY. Stop trying to make it anything else. You people are deeply disgusting.
This is an absolute nightmare scenario, a car stops and the kid starts walking and when it reaches the next lane an idiot arrives full speed and hit the child. A friend of a friend lost a 16 yr old child like this 3-4 years ago. The second car coming actually changed lane to pass on the left the stopped car and hit the child at full speed, killing him instantly. My friend was in shock describing the aftermath, a family destroyed, the mother of the dead kid just a living ghost, the siblings in shock and the entire community grieving. This happens so often. People are right to say that this is the fault of the driver only, but i dont want to be rhat mother and i keep telling my kids rhat they have to look super carefully, a car stops does not mean the other cars are going to stop as well. But as much as i say it, i am sure they are not going to pay attention 100% of the time. Sometimes i pay less attention as well when i cross the street and i am distracted. It’s just that i am old and have experience, for kids is different. I hope the child recovers quickly
