Oh - And what DO you do that enriches the lives of students? Please share. I'd love to know your job title.

The bottom line is this - People are jealous of teachers. While we may not make the big bucks we - have great health insurance, - are able to stay home with our kids during the summer, - have somewhat normal hours where we may be able to do drop off and/or pick up, - can tutor our own kids or find experts who can (big plus), - in some cases can pick the schools for our own kids, and - can spend holidays with our children. But most of all, despite how difficult the job is (Most on this board won't agree but that's just ignorance.), we enrich and save lives.
Ummmm... With the exception of staying home all summer, I have all of the above, only I make about 3x as much money. So, not really feeling the jealously.
You enrich and save lives, too? You are truly Superwoman, eh? bravo! I don't care how much you make; I am with my kids over the summer. To me, that is more important.
I do I am Thank you Ok

My job title: Sr. VP Nursing and Clinical Operations I've truly saved lives... like caring for critically ill children saving lives, doing CPR, working pediatric critical care transport team, don't even go there with me about saving lives. You can't even mop up my wake when it comes to saving lives.
NP here. I am a teacher and coach. I have saved one child's life when she collapsed on my track during a pre-practice run and I gave her CPR. I also helped a former student when she was pregnant with twins and talked her out of getting an abortion, so I guess that is two more lives I saved. We are still in touch; she has a wonderful job and supports her twins beautifully with the help of their daddy and the education she received at my high school and then two years of community college, where she got a certificate in cosmetology. So, it is just six figure making nurses that save lives. Who knew?
