Mimi was my best friend. She was brave, selfless, classy and private. Does anyone even know the true meaning that word anymore? Does privacy exist in this day and age? I love you Meems and I hate what has happened. I am done with being silent.
You obviously miss your friend and she sounds like a wonderful person. But all of these posts in a row slagging off your friends' children's new step mother aren't helpful. By your own account, TM and Robert *met* after Mimi died. There was literally nothing inappropriate at all. I assume you've been living your life since your friend died? Not sitting quietly in a dark room? Many men -- especially traditional Southern men -- think the most important thing they can do is find a stepmother for their kids precisely because they aren't prepared to engage in child-rearing. It's not great, obviously, but it's not inappropriate or, frankly, necessarily worse for the kids. Having a happy father and a new stepmother can be way better for kids than a distant, cold, disengaged and unhappy father and no maternal figure. You are projecting a lot onto the kids and how they feel when I suspect you have absolutely no idea. Unless TM actually mistreats the kids in some way, leave it be. The kids will be better off, which I'm sure is what your friend would have wanted.
