DP here, I get that but the cart and receipt are checked by the checker when you leave. And self checkout receipt paper is different at Costco so they know you went through the self scan lanes. Should be easy for the receipt checkers to give those carts a little extra attention especially if the item limit is enforced. [/quote]

The Costco I go to has employees who do most of the scanning at the self checkout so there's a shorter wait than the other lines but I have help if needed.  It's great.

Another Costco I go to sometimes has employees checking customer IDs at self checkout to make sure the membership card matches the person presenting it, but they don't help you scan.  I guess they've had trouble with people sharing memberships?
