[/quote] I was going to school at WVU when they were getting a lot of these kids through (late 80s, early 90s) and while the kids were impressive, the scholarships were much more about the infrastructure at the university for building a resume, knowing the schedules, supporting the kids doing the right research/projects/internships etc. The person spearheading this retired and WVU hasn't had one since 1995. I think places like Stanford/Harvard etc can get kids resumes built with a LOT less work than a school like WVU; there's simply many more impressive kids, and many more opportunities to do impressive things.
