If your air and water are poisoned there is little you can do with "personal choices".  Even if you grow your own food.  Vast majority buy some sort of prepared food, not many cook from scratch or are very picky about reading the list of ingredients or buying organic (which is out of reach for many people anyway).  Your kids can eat anything they want when you aren't there, smth you also cannot control.  There is a need for regulations and honesty for sure, personal choices only take you this far. [/quote]

Republicans wish to rear down all regulatory government and let the corporations do what they want.

Democrats want to keep regulations going so we can regulate what's in the environment.

And Democrats also want to keep democracy and the Republic going as well as the regulations to prevent the running of the environment.

Can't have a clean environment if you don't have regulations and regulators, can't have those if you don't have democracy.

In the meantime, while Democrats fight Republicans to keep toxic substances out of the environment, as well as uphold democracy, I also like to make my own better choices.

Meat will not be full of parasites because animals that are suffering from parasitic infections would be skinny and unable to gain weight for slaughter. Farmers and ranchers whose herds are infected with parasites pay higher costs to raise sick animals and earn less because of lower production. Economic losses occur not only when animals die, but also when they are unable to perform their regular work, or when they produce inferior meat, milk, wool, hides, or eggs. So farmers themselves are the ones who don’t want parasitic infections in their livestock, because it will reduce their production and profit.

Botulism occurs in improperly canned foods. It usually occurs when a can is damaged in transit from the factory to the warehouse or grocery store. The can becomes bloated and leaks, and the consumer notices and disposes of it. No company that processes food to sell to consumers is going to allow food to be sold with botulism in it, the company would go bankrupt immediately because people would avoid their products like the plague. Chipotle had an issue with people becoming sick from eating their food, and almost lost their entire business. The government didn’t have to step in to protect the public, Chipotle developed their own procedures to fix their problems.No company wants to kill the people who buy their products.

Honestly organic livestock have the biggest threat to the consumer from parasites because they don’t use the medication to treat parasitic infections they way traditional farmers do [/quote]
