Not a great display of technical prowess by the white team. Quality first touches would have made a world of difference.
Doesn't help with a Joystick coach hurling profanities and insults at you.
That's what they're know for. Some parents claim to like it, although I think they're probably just trying to rationalize keeping their kid on an MLS Next team.
Aahhhhh the power of the badge on the sleeve. Superficial bragging rights above all else. I'll just assume 99.8% of the parents wouldn't tolerate that abusive behavior on another consistently poor results team if they couldn't say, "my son plays mls next"
I think this statement can be applied to many MLSNext/ECNL teams in the area, coaches and parents displaying poor behavior. Let’s not pretend that Achilles or any other club/team has a monopoly on toxicity. Although take whatever is said on this board with a grain of salt as it’s usually disgruntled parents who believe their kids didn’t get a fair shake that are the frequent posters.
You must have never searched Sal or Achilles in the archives. Years worth of frequent posters? Doubt it.
The fact that you're referencing "years worth of frequent posters" and the "archives" lends credence to the idea that it's the same aggrieved people posting anti-Achilles things. In every thread about Achilles, and every one that is hijacked by the anti-Achilles people, like this one, someone chimes in to look at past threads, and "get your popcorn" or some ess like that. Let it go. It will be OK. I'm sure your son has found a good place to grow and develop.
Following up my own message here. I'd love to hear from parents whose sons have left Achilles about their post-Achilles experience. (I'm one of them, just without the ire). I recognize that Achilles, and Sal, have their failings and they are bad enough to be disqualifying for some. I get that. Could you let us know what clubs you've gone to, what the level/league was, and how your experience has been better? I'm genuinely curious to hear how those experiences have played out and what your son has taken from the different environment, and whether there was anything that Achilles did better than the new spot. Maybe don't name the club, if you think it'll ID you too much. Since a lot of folks think Achilles participation in MLS Next is the sole reason for for people to stick with the club, I'd like to hear what your new league is and how you feel about the competition level and how it affects the development and the experience for you.
It's unfortunate that so many put so much falsely inflated value and credence in the "level" of a "league" versus the coaching/teaching/nurturing their child is receiving and the actual individual development of the player.
I can understand that and that's what I'm asking for, specific experiences as to why it does or doesn't matter. It's hard to imagine that it doesn't matter at all to the "actual individual development of the player."
