I think it just goes to show how crazy college admissions is these days.

I went to a middling no name state u back in the day.  They used to admit almost everyone. Now?  goodness.. the acceptance rate is like 60%.  It's nuts.[/quote]

From our rigorous private school, "known" to the local state university, the acceptance rate was regularly 65% of applicants from our school up through 2019; since then it is 30%. They are only accepting the top students (who are choosing to go elsewhere because, obviously, those kids get into a lot of great schools). So where, in the past, 2 or 3 would have enrolled, now none are, which has the perverse effect of that college not accepting kids from this school who would have gone there, due to poor yield among kids who use it as a safety. AI is not doing a good job with admissions right now.[/quote]
