Ranked choice voting would bring a huge improvement in the quality of our elected officials. Currently conservative Democrats (often black) have a huge advantage in a one party D run city due to closed primaries and head to head primary elections where the entrenched incumbent wins with a tiny slice of the total vote. It's a disgrace and allows incompetent and unpopular clowns like Bowser to clean up.

What's really said is these entrenched incumbents and D lackies like Jonetta Rose Barras are attacking ranked choice voting as racist ("gentrification of voting") and claiming that the dumbest and least educated of DC voters won't be able to comprehend how ranked choice voting works, so we should keep the current system. The bigotry of soft expectations and racism all wrapped up in one horrific idea.[/quote]
