I’m pretty surprised they banned all crime posts. DC is in the news for its extremely high murder rate and there are a lot of other systemic issues. I don’t buy the explanation that “we had to delete too many racist comments.” I think they were influenced by the people who believe that all discussion of crime is racist because it makes people think about crime. I’ve had run-ins with these types before. They try to exert social pressure to silence discussion about crime.
They -- and the more persistent commenters on that sub who complain whenever there's a crime post -- are coming at this from a position of *extreme* privilege. Because crime hasn't affected them personally, they don't think it's a problem and are completely baffled that people want to talk about it.
It’s more than that. There are “progressives” who believe that talking about crime and tracking crime reports is racist, and they even attack black sources of information (eg the Twitter accounts like Realtimenews.) They affirmatively want to censor discussion of crime.
This is exactly how Democrat elitists continue to hurt black and brown people even more.
