Most people like similar things and when someone likes a very unpopular thing, that's usually not celebrated by others. Even stuff that is supposedly "alternative" is usually actually mainstream. Like I listen to what is called "indie" music. It's among the most popular kind of music out there right now. The bands I follow regularly sell out large venues and it can be really hard to get tickets. When I say I like Father John Misty, I'm sure that sounds pretentious to some people or like I'm trying to prove how unique and special my musical taste is, but literally everyone I know likes FJM, it's actually super basic.[/quote]
