I guess the argument would be that he oversaw a period of major expansion in FCPS, and that’s what they honored him for, not his views on integration. Also, that the school has had that name for 60+ years so now it’s just associated with the community, not the person.

+1. No one knows anything about the person behind the school name, so there's no need to change it. No one thinks about this unless they are bored and looking for something to be offended about. No one walks into that school or drives by it and feels offended.

This is utter stupidity. DD did a research project on him two years ago. Just because you're an idiot and don't want to learn about the namesake of your school doesn't mean the rest of the community is the same way.[/quote]

Has the Woodson community even been polled?  Do they want to change the name?

I’d like to know Sizemore-Heizer’s position on this since she is now running for the Braddock seat.  Should Lake Braddock be renamed as well? Gen. Edward Braddock waged war on Native Americans. [/quote]

I just conducted a poll and 92% of the Woodson community supports renaming the school to "Yo Mama High School"[/quote]
