I live around the same block as the Brandywine and Saratoga. We moved out of our last apt. building (the infamous Sedgwick Gardens) because the voucher recipients had started filling the majority of the units and it was too unsafe to live there anymore, especially with a baby on the way. We specifically chose to move north up Connecticut to try to avoid another building being overrun with voucher recipients. I fear we may need to move again if this continues to get worse.
You should leave DC, most voucher recipients are people who are working hard but cannot afford the rising costs of living while raising a family. City living is not for you, it's okay to tap out to the suburbs. I mean you obviously want to do so anyway, given your mindset and stereotypes about lower income peoples.
Already left. VA resident (and Younkin voter - first R vote ever). Enjoy your decaying city, high taxes, and rising violence.
It's pretty shocking how much crime has risen SINCE the Emergency Crime bill. Frumin waffled and seemed as though he might vote against it during the hearing, EVERYONE but JLG fell in line, Nadeau, Allen, etc, voted yes and shut up. Matt's behavior was shocking tbh. And the post on ND is weak as can be and many are not on ND. Nothing has been sent out to constituents. I miss Mary Cheh who was VILLIFIED when talking about crime outside the Days Inn following 5 women being shot there. But that was in a building not on a public sidewalk at 3 on a Saturday. The shooting happened near tennis courts, is that pickleball adjacent enough to get Frumin's focus? No announced public meeting as there was then, Cheh and Bowser came up and spoke along with MPD and USAO and for those who could not attend in person, a local tv station streamed it. This is much more likely to be a threat to safety of citizens and Frumin has organized NOTHING?
