[/b]The archdiocese of Washington requires all of its affiliated high schools to mandate that ALL students receive instruction in Catholic doctrine every year. The Heights school allows non-Catholic high schoolers to take philosophy classes instead of Catholic doctrine classes. The teacher likely prays privately for the students every day that they may someday be open to the teachings of Catholicism, but does not shove the teachings down their throats. He engages them in the spirit of inquiry.

The Heights used to be formally affiliated with the Archdiocese of Washington, but I have a strong hunch that the curriculum requirements for non-Catholic students started the fissure.
