PVI coach resigned in June but had already set up to run the camps. He is also assisting with the hiring of a new coach. It is hard to find people willing to give up the time to coach.
The rumor is that parents were upset that their kids were not getting enough playing time and he was getting tired of the pressure from the school..
As evidence in the thread the attention on this program gets in Loudoun County on a thread started for LC Public Schools tells you all you need to know. Too many kids thinking they are good enough to play at PVI and with all the other options available to them in the county and they chose to ride the bench instead of play at another WCAC school or just stay at you home public. Clearly, the kids are not good enough and parents don't want to hear it.
The OP titles this Loudoun County HS. This opens the discussion for boys lacrosse, girl's lacrosse, public and private. If any parent sends their kids to PVI just to play lacrosse then they are not meeting the mission of the school. Like college, would you go there if lacrosse went away? I think this is one reason it will be tough to find a good replacement coach at PVI. The public school job is a better deal for many coaches.
The OP further said that this was opened for Loudoun public schools and there was already enough private school threads. They wanted a public school thread. Then further said primarily for boys but was open to girls. Never said anything about opening it to any private, PVI or no.
Would playing in a lower division hurt some of these kids chances of playing in college? Not everyone can play/afford private school... Back on track with LoCo Lacrosse... With Champe going to division 4 from 6, do you think they have a chance to make a good showing? I also wonder if Light Ridge will have any new players moving up?
What was posted above in the county breakdown. Champe has a good coach and good program. The plus column: they have played against the Freedoms, Battlefields and Patriots the past years, better competition then they will face for the most part than against the 4s. The upperclassmen will carry this team for the next year or two. The negatives: the move to 4 is based on smaller enrollment, meaning less opportunity for large classes of experienced players. They will slowly get caught by the current 4s, but this will take a few years. Being in the tougher of the two 4a divisions is a negative, but not having Dominion in division is a plus. They should do well for the coming few seasons, at least. Light ridge struggled against the 4s and will struggle more against the 5s. Don’t see that they have a shot in the next few years of finishing higher than 4th. They are clearly behind RHS, BW, IHS and most likely won’t pass SB for #4 anytime soon.
