Can anyone speak to OOS merit/scholarships and stats?
My daughter is a rising OOS freshman. The highest merit is $17K per year, which is what she got. It is based only on GPA (used to be SAT/ACT score before they went test optional). It's a bit hard to figure out on their NPC because they ask for GPA out of 5.0 so they used weighted but not sure exactly how they weight. My daughter had a 3.9x unweighted and a 4.5x weighted from her high school and got the full $17K. She also got into the honors college which comes with privileges such as early registration, nicer/newer dorm, mentor and opportunities, etc. If you have super high stats, there is an invite-only weekend where they invite 100 kids to compete for about 10 (or so?) full rides. But all 100 kids walk away with extra merit. All in, we are paying $38K for tuition, room, and board. My daughter chose Delaware over UMass (loved it but too far), Virginia Tech (loved it but too expensive OOS), and NC State (was meh on it and too close as we are in state).
