How bad is it? I know this summer STJ girls were playing on some of the teams.
The club is an absolute train wreck and I really don't think being bought by the STJ will do anything to save it from dying at this point. That person in charge had a good thing going and then ran it into the ground because of greed.
Sounds like the same story as Pride.
Pride is not a "train wreck" by any definition. It is the most successful club in Northern Virginia at elementary and middle school level. Second, only to Capital in HS. Having an issue with one or two teams (yes, the 27s in Loudon and 30s in NOVA; already discussed) does not generalize. Look at rankings, talk to parents, see where the top players choose to go, etc. St James still has a chance to be the up and coming program with Stars, but they haven't done it on the field yet. Don't see it happening at the older grades. And losing their big splash new director in less than a year doesn't help. Neither bears any comparison to MC Elite. We'll see what St J does with it, but they are busy building their flagship brand in Stars, so it will be tough.
I think part of why Pride is a "train wreck" is because they ultimately failed at creating a top level HS program and keeping their best rather than losing them to Capital. Which is not a one-off, the 25s through 27s had their top players go to Capital. 28s and 29s are are close with STARS with 29s losing to them in their only matchup this past year. And, with the exception of the 28s, BLC is actually the top choice. So they aren't what they used to be and with what happened with the 30s, people will have more hesitation. Yes, still the next best option to Capital, and it's not cut and dry for taking Pride Black over Capital Orange so really they are 3rd best option, for HS but not really by much now. And yes, nothing compares to the true train wreck in MCE. That is where nearly every team is a disaster except now maybe 26 Midnight - but that has the caveat of being nowhere near as good as what they used to be while still being a solid option.
