Just tell them that you are happy to use them for a free vacation so long as you don’t have to drive with them. I’m sure they’ll understand.
NP. Really do get over yourself. This comes up all the time, and sorry, but Just No, Boomer. Most DCUM posters have their own money, and in many cases, a lot more money than their parents and ILs. Personally, DH and I pay our share of extended family vacations, but even if someone else is paying, a "free vacation" isn't the prize you think it is. Go into the Search function, type in "beach drama," and you'll see what I mean. Like, some rental in Sandbridge just ain't high luxury, OK? No one wants a long car ride with people who aren't in their immediate family. Get over it.
These aren't rich people problems. The wealthy don't bum rides in cramped automobiles or drive 8 hours when they can fly in 2 and rent a car. People who consider these ideas and then actually do them don't have a lot of choices or financial freedom to make better choices.
Sure they do--the Stage 5 Clingers who want more, more, more time and more, more, more access totally would pull this. Some of the wealthiest people I know are also the cheapest--haven't you noticed the news articles about Warren Buffet and his wife complaining about $4 coffee lately?
That one article about his Buffett's wife proves your theory? No, I don't think there is an epidemic of wealthy people cramming into sedans or hybrid SUVs to drive hundreds of miles to stay in a shitty time share. These aren't wealthy people.
You tried it. My grandfather was a surgeon that was sought-after, renowned and funded, and had a procedure named after him. He came from money. He was so cheap that when he traveled and had to stay in a hotel, he always chose the budget ones with the free breakfast. Once he visited the DC area and invited me to “have breakfast with him” at his hotel, which was about an hour from me. He meant the free hotel breakfast at his hotel. I could go on with other family members and friends of our family. If you know you know.
Your grandfather was cheap, but not stupid. There's a difference. So, you tried it with your one example but you haven't proved that wealthy people do stupid things that waste their time.
They do, though. Wealthy people can be cheap, stupid, clingy, anxious, overbearing, stifling, etc., just like everyone else.
Yes but wealthy people don't 1) own timeshares and 2) share a ride in a small SUV with kids, dogs, luggage, and whatever. This is not how the 1% travels and it's funny that people seem to think it is.
You’re right. We ARE talking about the other 99% of the population.
What is the definition of wealthy? Because typical middle class vacations is not it in my book.
According to PP, only the top 1% is wealthy. I’m hoping she will see herself out now as we are clearly talking about the poors and her references aren’t pertinent to the facts we know here.
Are you the person who insisted everyone involved was rich and wealthy? You made a dumb point and clearly have no idea what rich people do. Because this nonsense isn’t it. If everyone had more money none if this would be an issue.
Redundant.
