If there is anything to reference when using the statement "how soon we forget," perhaps it could be Haiti, and perhaps we can express our outrage and motivation to induce change in Haiti, or any other place like it on earth - there are dozens (search Google Images "kibera Kenya" for a good wake-up call - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibera )
I do not mean to sell short the cruel and irresponsible actions that often occur at zoos small and large, but I do think that when human beings are living a quality of life below the animals in our zoos, we need to refocus our energy.
