Research biologist here. The two real life tests of genetically-modified mosquito releases in Florida and California will SAVE LIVES from disease carried by mosquitoes. The particular gene modification involved is not a risk for humans at all, either directly or through a decrease in the mosquito population reverberating through the ecosystem. 
I know you're probably a low-information fear-spreader, since you're inserting the name of a famous billionaire, but just to inform normal people reading this thread:
We should implement this to the entire USA in the coming years. Mosquitoes threaten the US population with malaria, dengue, zika, etc, and spread north as global warming extends tropical conditions to a greater swathe of the country.
Please vote for genetic mosquito control! It's much safer for humans than spraying carcinogenic insecticide everywhere.
