There are however parents of very low socioeconomic levels that cannot fathom the value of education because they literally live on different planes of existence. The kids of blue-collar, manual labor, and retail workers should not be destined for the same lives solely because their parents did not have the capacity or money to go to college. That is what equity tries to fix with supports and programs for first-generation college-bound kids.[/quote]
