Has DCUM always been this fearful? Are you all 80 years old or something?
A shootout today ended with a pregnant woman dead. Another murder by stabbing. Just the knowledge that no cars on the road are required to have a license plate changes everything for crime.
Does it? I agree that crime is increasingly a problem, but I'm not sure how much of a deterrent effect the prospect of being pulled over for bad license plates would have on someone who's going to shoot or stab someone.
This. It’s like the gun argument. If someone wants to kill someone, enforcing traffic or gun laws won’t make any difference.
Well, you're agreeing with my reply, but I actually think there's a difference between enforcing traffic laws and enforcing gun laws in terms of deterrence and overall crime prevention. Enforcing gun laws will do more to protect everyone than enforcing traffic laws would -- for one, it gets guns off the streets, and for another, having an illegal gun would seem to make you likelier to commit violent crime in the future than simply running a red light.
