The risks of pursuing people for something like running a red light don't come anywhere near the benefits of locking them up immediately, especially given how many cameras there are around the city. If this driver almost hit a pedestrian, what makes you think the cop wouldn't have hit them?[/quote]

Dunno, maybe you don't want to get hit by traffic coming in the other direction? Maybe you like to obey laws even if you don't think you'll face immediate consequences because you generally believe in being a member of society? Maybe you don't want a ticket in the mail later from the camera that's positioned on an increasingly large number of intersections?[/quote]
