“And the evidence is "ten times worse" than what has been revealed to the public, attorneys who will be arguing the case told The Daily Beast. "Famed criminal defense attorney Dick DeGuerin — who has represented clients ranging from former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to convicted murderer and New York City real estate heir Robert Durst to cult leader David Koresh—is now determined to 'save and protect the people of Texas from a crooked attorney general,'" wrote Justin Rohrlich. "'It’s a matter of corruption, a matter of abuse of the public trust, a matter of misuse of public resources, flat-out bribery, perjury,' said DeGuerin, a one-time prosecutor who will help make the case on the House floor for Paxton’s conviction. 'It’s just conduct that convinces anyone that looks at it fairly that the office of attorney general has been abused and used for personal gain.'" https://www.thedailybeast.com/ken-paxtons-impeachment-prosecutor-dick-deguerin-says-its-a-slam-dunk-case
Wow. They really have the knives out if they hired DeGuerin. Damn. By Ken.
I don’t know who DeGuerin is (sorry PP who wants us to read the Texas pubs; sometimes I just want a pat answer and not to have to read a long slog about a corrupt state that I can’t do anything to change, you know?) but I enjoy your certainty.
It's not that I want people to read them, it's that if people are going to speculate why this is happening, then I am going to provide information and links/ especially when people are saying not plausible things like it was because Paxton said the Speaker of the TX House presided drunk. While mean, the TX Lege is always a circus so it's also not mean enough to trigger what is about to happen to Paxton. DeGuerin is a very famous (in TX) criminal defense attorney, arguably someone Ken Paxton would want representing him. I also saw the Lege hired Rusty Hardin, who is another heavy hitter criminal defense attorney. So the Legislature just hired the two most famous criminal defense attorneys in the state to prosecute Paxton. Paxton in turn has hired Tony Buzbee, who is my law school classmate. We kind of all hated him but none of us were surprised that he's become a millionaire plaintiff's lawyer. I hope this sh!T is on TV because I will be watching.
Great info, PP, thanks! Rusty Hardin’s name is SO familiar to me. Looking over his wiki I would love to think it’s because of Arthur Andersen 🧐, but I’m pretty sure it’s because of J. Howard Marshall. 😬
