You’ve got to be kidding. I would not be okay with this - the only time I fly is for work and it is a BREAK from children. I always pay OOP for a select seat so I can board first to get my suitcase on and get out of airport fast.

We are traveling with 2 young kids, 3 and 7 year old. $500 is a lot of money. For delta or anerican airline, will they at least sit one kid and one adult together if we don't pay for assigned seats? It is domestic flight trip for less than 2 hours one way nonstop.
For Delta, no. Your kid, even the 3 year old, may end up sitting next to strangers. That happened to me and my child on a flight 2 years ago. I happily paid for my kid to sit next to me (always do, even with him being a teen now). But two parents didn’t so their toddler girl (maybe 2-3 yrs old) was put in the 3rd seat next to us. It was fine bc I’m a mom and kind of looked out for the toddler, but what if instead she ended up next to a dirty perv or some other undesirable element of society? Don’t take chances with your children OP. I’ve sat next to some true weirdos on flights. If it’s a 3-seater, I always put my kid by the window and I sit in the middle, to protect him from flight weirdos.
