I mean, does she even have enough good music to tour with? Wrecking Ball was a good song. Party in the USA is a weird ear worm that is somehow not a good song and yet I randomly know all the words and kind of like it anyway? I love the idea behind Flowers and some of the lyrics, but think that musically it's pretty uninspired -- just standard dance ballad intended for club play. Struggling to think of others. She doesn't have the catalog that Swift or Beyonce or even someone like Katy Perry has. Also, her musical career has been kind of weird because she has her Hannah Montana years (which she would never sing now) and then she has her highly reactionary "I'm not a Disney Star -- I'm a sexy woman!" phase which produced a few hits but was also kind of over the top and in some cases really obnoxious (like when she decide she was "gangsta" and wore a metal grill and twerked onstage -- basically cosplaying as a black girl for credibility). She has had some decent success since then as she's settled down again, but it doesn't all hang together very well in the way that, say, Swift's catalog does. It's hard to imagine her putting together a compelling show and who would buy tickets to it. Does she have a real fan base, or just people will sometimes latch on to one of her songs when it's decent and well-promoted. I have certainly never listened to an entire Miley Cyrus song start to finish.
You say this only because you’re not a fan and aren’t real familiar with her music. She has plenty of songs of her own to do a great concert and also does outstanding and really interesting covers of other people’s songs that her fans really enjoy. She’s literally worth hundreds of millions of dollars so she’s been doing something right and obviously somebody likes her. You’re just jealous.
She hasn't toured since 2014, so maybe actually she does not have the fan base for touring. She can spin it as "I don't want to," but there is a question as to whether there is demand. I have never heard someone say "when is Miley going to tour again?" I am not convinced there is demand. It's not a value judgment, it's an observation. I'm not comparing Miley to me. I am comparing her to contemporaries like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry, all of whom have toured much more extensively in recent years. I don't think the difference is just that Miley doesn't want to -- these other artists have much more tour-friendly fan bases and musical catalogs. Weird to argue I am jealous of Miley Cyrus but somehow not jealous of Beyoncé or Taylor Swift who are objectively more successful and have also had less tumultuous/troubled personal lives than Miley, who has dealt with some bad relationships, substance-abuse issues, and mental health concerns. If I had to pick a pop star to be jealous of, I probably would not pick Miley.
Yea, you’re right. She has no fan base. That’s why she has 208 MILLION followers on Instagram.
I didn't say she had no fan base. I said her fan base is different than those that consistently produce sold out tours. Following someone on Instagram is not the same as dropping $200 on a ticket to their show.
You’re ridiculous. I’m betting that among the 208 MILLION who follow her on social media there are enough willing to pay 200 bucks to see her in concert. Look, I get it. You don’t like her and you don’t like her music. You couldn’t pay me enough to go to a Katy Perry concert but I’m not gonna sit here and tell you she couldn’t fill an arena just because she sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.
