What is the going rate for a nanny for one child if these are the rates for a share?
PP here. I think you can get someone right now for $20/hour if you don't expect a lot of 'official' qualifications, and $22/hour for someone very solid. I currently pay $28/hour for 2 kids but my husband is in a super hardcore job and I work FT as well. We are paying this amount because we wanted this one very specific person who works for our very specific needs, and because we want to make sure we are paying more than anyone else we know to prevent poaching. From my conversations with fellow moms, and with my current nanny (who is extremely qualified in most of the things that the '$35 for one child!' nannies tout), we are paying extremely well. Many Bethesda moms I know (with two parents with big jobs) are not paying more than $23/hour for 2 kids. I also think it helps if you don't go through an agency as I think the expectations there are pretty inflated. I had a college senior babysitter I found randomly who also worked for White House Nannies and she was very clear that she would not really recommend any of the people she met randomly at trainings, particularly at WHN prices - she was only college student, she said.
