We need city council members to have children in the schools as well. I actually think that's more important as they are the ones approving all the decisions (ex. land, sros) and the budget.
We do have CC members with kids in the schools. It doesn't change their positions on these issues. They believe in no policing in the schools. And Chapman is a bio teacher in Fairfax...he is still against SROs and the weapons screening. This is what they believe is right. Also - when are those weapons screeners going into place? I thought the timeline was early May.
There are only 2 CC members with children in the schools. Chapman may be a teacher for a different district, but he doesn't have kids in the ACPS schools.
His child is too young for ACPS but I believe he intends to send him when he’s old enough
I wouldn't bet on that. He attended a local private school as a kid. Also, he's not a teacher--he has an admin type job.
He attended ACPS until upper school when he got a scholarship to a local k-12. He grew up in the berg in old town. He has said he intends to send his son to ACPS
