I don't live in an area with gang violence. In fact, I live in the suburbs of a larger metro area. My family has been one degree of separation from gun violence three times in the last nine years. My son was scheduled to be at a community center an hour after a boy and his grandfather were shot and killed; my son got a frantic text telling him not to come. My daughter's sorority sister was shot and killed by a stray bullet at a popular community event. And my friend's daughter was on lockdown in her suburban high school after a kid brought a gun to school and an administrator and security guard were shot. If you live in this country and aren't afraid of shootings you're not paying attention. [/quote]

It’s so frustrating to hear people say well if you live in an upper class suburb you will never get affected. These are not gang related shootings being carried out in Harlem. These are random shootings where one crazy person has access to an AR -15 and starts shooting randomly. None of us are safe. Tyson’s corner itself has been under heavy security because of the recent escalation in threats there. [/quote]
