It entirely depends on why the weight was gained in the first place. Once you get to a place where you can figure out your intake appropriately, it may not be necessary to count anything forever. Everybody is different. I lost nearly 100 lbs, and I don't count anything. I never really did. OP, lots of great advice in this thread. The main thing is to start with something achievable and focus on that until it becomes a habit. Then, start doing something else. Taking a drug for weight loss is just another form of habit. We are our habits. That is as much true about our food and lifestyle as it is about the calluses on your feet and the way your shoes get worn in. [/quote] You’re right. Nothing is universally true.
