Actually, professionalism does. You can have your own political thoughts and beliefs but you do not bring them to the office. Like a grown up.
PP said nothing about her husband bringing them "to the office." He is allowed to have opinions. He is a grown up.
If he keeps his opinions to himself, then he's not being political.
He doesn't need to keep his opinions to himself. He's allowed to express his opinions to his friends, neighbors, wife, etc. Do you really think that all military members are locked "in the office" and allowed no contact with anyone but his co-workers?
Actually he’s not. He can have his own opinions, of course, but it’s unprofessional to share them with more than his immediate family. He represents the the military and his comments carry weight. People assume he has knowledge they don’t and give more authority to what he says. And no matter how uninformed or political his take, there are too many people who will assume it’s gospel. “My neighbor is a colonel and he said…”. Horribly unprofessional. Seriously messed up ethics. I have a spouse acquaintance on FB always sharing dumb Breitbart level stories. All her Fox loving friends assume her high ranking husband shares her views and want to know what he thinks. It’s toxic.
