OP here- I think trashed is a bit misused in that context. Lets give UA a round of applause for providing a choking hazard for a snack AND one of th messiest snacks on gods green earth besides unshelled peanuts/sunflower seeds.

And the behavior is not about the kids in either instance, its about our society's reaction to kids being kids and somehow holding them to a higher standard than adults.

Luckily, we don't allow guns or weapons on planes although I am sure that's in the not-too-distant future. [/quote]

JFC. If it’s a “choking hazard,” DON’T GIVE IT TO YOUR KIDS. You can say no. Yes, even if they saw it already and suuuuuper duuuuper want it. Welcome to parenting.

And since you’re not an incompetent parent (right?), you have other self-selected non choking hazard snacks in your purse/carryon under the seat in front of you, right? Oh, your kid doesn’t want those and wants popcorn instead? Too damn bad.[/quote]
