Imagine if you contributed campaign money and voted for Donald Trump on "we're gonna build a wall and we're gonna crack down on illegals" and three months after taking office, he laid off the entire Border patrol and tore down the existing border wall. You'd feel you'd been scammed. That's exactly what's going on with this set of Democrats suddenly switching parties.
You're damn right we'd be pissed. But, that is not what is happening here. They are leaving the Democrats because the policies they are supporting are bat$hit crazy. They cannot put their names behind policies that are crappy for their states or for the country. Thompson, the first Democrat to switch parties in LA last month said this: "The push the past several years by Democratic leadership on both the national and state level to support certain issues does not align with those values and principles that are a part of my Christian life." Right now, the Democratic Party is attracting only far left believers. Moderate Democrats are finding there is no place for them.
Wait, are you suggesting they are leaving one party for its "bat$hit crazy" policies to join another party for even more "bat$hit crazy" policies?? WTF. That does NOT make sense. At all. And if someone's "Christian" values means helping the rich instead of the poor and downtrodden, attacking fellow citizens because of the way they look and who they love, taking away social safety nets, letting big lobby groups drive policies to get rid of regulation that protects labor and checks corporate misconduct, removing environmental protections to hasten the destruction of God's green earth, taking away health insurance so people either avoid doctors or go bankrupt with medical bills, shrugging your shoulders when people are ripped to shreds by unregulated weapons and saying there's nothing to be done, forcing children to go through with pregnancies that could kill or maim them, then I have no idea what scripture you are reading to draw those "values" from. Christ did not hobnob with the wealthy and tell the poor to work harder while turning his back to them.
