She did more than just "put her hands around his neck". The boy's mother decided to press charges when she found red marks on his neck. To squeeze hard enough to leave red marks that would not have faded by the time he got home after being assaulted at the mall? She grabbed him around the neck strong enough to bruise. Had this been a man, who had grabbed a girl around the neck hard enough to bruise, would ANYONE be making up excuses for why an adult who completely loses it enough to bruise a teenager should not be punished? She's a violent criminal. Sorry, but there is something wrong when an adult uses serious violence on a minor except in self-defense and at a minimum that person needs to have a record of criminal violence and should be restricted in their proximity to children.
I don't know if a teenage girl who had been bullying and taunting another kid and said some of the despicable things this boy did would have many supporters if a dad did something similar. These kids need to be taught there are serious consequences for their actions. I'm sick of these shitty, entitled, privileged kids who go around doing their despicable deeds without any consequences. NJ webcam man and woman, Casey Anthony, and Amanda Foxes of the world.
I agree 100%. I think the bullying laws need to be more serious and have some bite to them. But under no circumstances do I think that there is any justification or allowance for anyone, adult or not, to physically assault someone in response to a non-violent bullying attack. The bully deserved to be punished. And so does this mother. At least NJ webcam dude was convicted on 15 counts and is serving jail time, paying a $10K fine, 300 hours of community service and counseling. I think this mother deserves all of the same, but in lesser quantities (her victim did not die). So, short jail time, a fine, community service and counseling seems about right. And a criminal record--which she deserves. You can also add the jacka$$ George Huguely to your list of entitled privileged kids.
